The Guide to Shanghai

Updated: Nov 10, 2021

"Shanghai is located on the central coast of China. It is also China’s largest city, as well as one of the global biggest financial hubs."

1) A place to visit:

Shanghai is located on the central coast of China. It is also China’s largest city, as well as one of the global biggest financial hubs. One of the most famous and signature buildings is the Oriental Pearl TV Tower that is located in the Pudong area. In my opinion, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower is on the “MUST VISIT” list for foreign travelers and visitors. The tower is 468 meters in height, and visitors can take the elevator inside of the Tower to enter the garret restaurant. One of the best parts of going to the garret restaurant of the tower is that you will be able to enjoy the meals while overlooking the entire Shanghai city, which is really interesting and fascinating to experience. Another great place to go when you are visiting Shanghai, the Bund is an amazing place to visit, too. The Bund is famous for its grand, Western-style buildings that were built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, which is a really historial place to visit, too.

2) Transportation:

Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport is one of the two international airports that is located in Shanghai. In fact, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport is the closest to the downtown center, which is more convenient for transportation in Shanghai in the latter days. Once you have landed in Shanghai, one of the fastest and affordable options when choosing your transportation will be the subway. Since the traffic in Shanghai is super jam, taking the subway when traveling in Shanghai will save you a lot of time in traffic jams. In addition, since the schedule of the subway has already been set up, and the passengers already know the subway will stop at which station at what time, which means that you will not be late for the schedule if you are taking the subway in Shanghai.

3) Residence:

When choosing your ideal residence to stay in Shanghai, the top option that comes to mind will be The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, the Five-star hotel located in the Pudong area. This hotel not only offers neat and superior equipment and services, but the location of itself is also perfect for foreign travelers, too. To be specific, the famous Shanghai Oriental Pearl TV Tower is only 550 meters from the hotel, which only takes approximately 9-10 minutes to walk.

If you are looking for more affordable residences, then hotels like Pudong Shangri-La, Grand Kempinski Hotel, and Pudong Home Inns are also budget residences that are close to the Shanghai TV Tower, too.

4) Top restaurants:

One of the most important missions when visiting Shanghai is to eat Shanghai’s specialties. And there are various fine restaurants in Pudong that offer delicious local dishes, as well as great services. Yong Ji Ting is one of the best Shanghai cuisines in Pudong, where you can find the most delicate and traditional dishes that represent Shanghai cuisine as a whole. If you would like to try Soochow cuisine, Lin Jiang Yan is a great restaurant to go to, and you will have the opportunity to try Soochow dishes, as well as tasting more diversity of the Chinese cuisine and learn more about China.
