Summer Palace is a vast ensemble of lakes, gardens and palaces in Beijing. It was said to be the “best-preserved imperial garden” in the world


 

Old Summer Palace(The Ruins of Yuanmingyuan)


Old Summer Palace, also known as The Ruins of Yuanmingyuan, was a complex of palaces and gardens. Widely perceived as the pinnacle work of Chinese imperial garden and palace design, the Old Summer Palace was known for its extensive collection of gardens, its building architecture and numerous art and historical treasures. As it was looted and burnt down by Anglo-French troops in 1860, the treasures of the Yuanmingyuan were widely distributed among European art collections.


 

Nanluoguxiang


Nanluoguxiang is one of the most famous Hutong districts in Beijing. Hutong refer to the old style alleyways where large numbers of one-story courtyard houses are located in Beijing. Several shops in the area will catch your attention with many unique gifts such as plates and coasters featuring artistic designs. There are also many other ornaments for sale including bottles, enamel cups, a selection of ornaments displaying Chairman Mao’s image etc..
