5 Things You Need To Know About Tianjin

Tianjin is a municipality and a coastal metropolis in the Northern Chinaon the shore of the Bohai Sea.It is one of the nine national central cities in Mainland China, with a total population estimated at 15,621,200 in 2016. In terms of urban population, Tianjin is the fourth largest in China, after Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Beijing. In terms of administrative area population, Tianjin ranks fifth in Mainland China.



 

The Tianjin Eye


There are a lot of great places in Tianjin that you can visit! One of them is called the Tianjin Eye, the official name The Tientsin Eye. Tianjin Eye is one of the most signature building in Tianjin, and it is an amazing place to take pictures at night when the lights are on.

Fun fact about Tianjin Eye, it is a 120 meter tall giant ferris wheel that has built above the Yongle Bridge, which is also be called as the Chihai Bridge. In addition, the ferries wheel was built over the Hai River in Tianjin, China, and people can enjoy the view of the Hai River while taking the ferries wheel as well.





And this is the" Hai River "







There are 48 passenger capsules in total in the Tianjin Eye, and each of the capsules can carry 8 passengers, which means that you can bring up to 8 of your families or friends when taking the Tianjin Eye. In addition, the ferris wheel usually takes approximately 30 minutes to complete a full rotation, and people can take their time to enjoy looking at the Hai River and chat with each other.



 

Guwenhua Jie


Guwenhua Jie, Tianjin's Ancient Culture Street. It is a pedestrian pathway complex dotted with temple gates and kiosks on the west bank of the Hai River in Tianjin, China. Tianjin Ancient Culture Street was opened on New Year's Day in 1986. It preserves the architectural style of Qing dynasty.























 

Gobuli



This steamed pork bun made with ground meat and aromatics is one of the city’s most famous snacks, and it started appearing on the streets in the 1850s. The name of the steamed pork bun is called Gobuli, which is translated as “the dog doesn’t care”.



However, the real story behind this name has not been demonstrated or explained, but some Tianjin people say that it is because the owner of this Gobuli restaurant is called “Dog”, and because their steamed pork bun is too delicious, the owner became arrogant and started ignoring the customers.


 

Jianbing


Jianbing is a tranditional Tianjin breakfast that is made out of greenbean paste and cooked into a breakfast crepe that you can add eggs, fried dough sticks ( it is also one of the Tianjin traditional dish called Guozi), and spicy sause, then the cooker will fold the stuffed crepe into a large rectangle and serve it to the customers.



 

Sugar Balloon


Tianjin’s sugar balloon is one of the most technical Special food in Tianjin.


It really requires the skills and techniques of the candy maker, and usually the sugar balloon is almost inpossible for people to recreate it at home.







Sugar balloons are made by melting sugar in a pot and then let them cool down to a curtained temperature where it can be scooped up and stick to a stik. Then the candy maker will shape out the shape of the candy, and then stick a straw into the candy and let the customer to blow air into the candy in order to inflate the figurine.
